About US:
Uganda National Cultural Centre (UNCC) is a semi-autonomous body established by an Act of Parliament (UNCC Act Cap 50). It is mandated to preserve, promote and popularize Art and Culture in Uganda and beyond.
Job Summary: The Curator will be responsible for assembling, cataloguing and presenting / displaying artistic cultural collections and management of all Gallery/ mini Museum
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage the Centre’s Visual arts Portfolio designing, coordinating and evaluating programs of the Gallery, in cooperation with artists and technicians
- Formulate plans and strategies for Visual Arts
- Design programs for implementation, monitoring and evaluation for gallery development.
- Responsibility for a collection of artifacts or works of art which may be of interest to the gallery
- Cataloguing acquisitions and keeping records
- Carrying out background research to enriching Cataloguing acquisitions and keeping records and archives of the gallery.
- Develop and communicate educational activities and community outreach
- Dealing with and understanding computer generated imagery and website software to enable him/their write materials and articles for the website as pan of enhancing visitor interaction and experience
- Originate advertising materials like Flyers, Brochures and Banners for the marketing Department
- Organize promotional activities including participation in art fairs,
- Collaborating with other institution’s Departments
- Liaising with communities and industries as well as grant agencies to secure sponsorship for events publications and development of projects.
- working closely with individual artists, developing relationships with new artists, and extending relationships with established artists from the gallery
- developing client lists by notifying potential clients of particular works and exhibitions according to their related interests‘
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant for the Uganda National Cultural Centre (UNCC) Grants Officer job must hold an Honors Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent in Fine and Industrial Art/Curating and Education from a recognized institution
- Post—Graduate qualification in a related field is desirable.
- A minimum of seven years in the field of Visual Articulating and management
