Job Summary: The Director of Operations directs and coordinates Human Resources, Procurement and Finance teams of RTV Uganda operations. The Director ensures that these activities are in conformance to RTV’s policies, goals and objectives that an efficient working environment is maintained, and that deadlines are met consistently. The Operations Director also provides periodic feedback to executive management on the goals and objectives for RTV.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Vision
- As part of the management team, set annual/quarterly goals and targets related to HR, Procurement and Finance for Uganda’s operations;
- Contributes to strategic vision, along with design and implementation of organizational strategy;
- Ensures the tactical execution of work within the operations functions to ensure operations serves an effective support role to program delivery and proactively finding solutions
- Develops and implements operational and employee policies, and manage work flows across RTV Uganda’s operations;
- Ensures a culture of continuous improvement to increase efficiency, improve delivery and reduce costs;
Project Management and Administration
- Oversees daily activity of Uganda Operations Group; bringing knowledge in finance, procurement, administration and human resources
- With the Executive team, sets the operations annual budgets and manages them accordingly;
- Prepares budgets, schedules and other organizational reports as needed to the Executive Director (ED), Board, government and donors;
- Manage the finances and weekly and monthly reporting of key matrices to share with the ED;
- Manages team workloads in order to meet goals and deadlines;
- Improves existing systems and policies;
- Works closely with other departments to promote efficient organizational optimization;
- Identifies improvement areas and plans and implements systems to boost organizational effectiveness;
Supervision
- Responsible for Finance, Human Resource, Integrated Technology, Procurement and Administrative offices, providing direction for the staff team;
- Manages the quality of staff performances and ensures a clear development plan for team members
- Promotes and enforces safety in the workplace;
Note: Other requirements as might be required by their direct supervisor and/or management.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Degree in business administration, operations management or finance, or any other relevant degree;
- An MBA and/or professional qualification like; CIPS; ACCA, CIMA & CISA
- At least seven years of relevant experience, including three years of management experience at a senior manager or director level position;
- Experience with accounting and/or financial management, and procurement
- Experience with HR administration would be considered an asset;
- Excellent written/verbal English communication skills
- Analytical skills to evaluate data and make operational decisions;
- Strong problem solving skills
- Computer literate with strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel;
- Adaptable to change;
- Driven to achieve results;
- Exceptional coaching and staff mentorship skills;
- Ability to demonstrate exceptional organization and planning skills
