About US:
The Northern Uganda Resilience Initiative (NURI) is one of three engagements under the Uganda Programme on Sustainable and Inclusive Development of the Economy (UPSIDE), which is a thematic programme of the Danish Country Programme for Uganda 2018‐2022, for which a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Government of Denmark and the Government of Uganda.
Job Summary: The Data Officer position exists to frequently collect agricultural production and rural infrastructure data and entered into databases.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties will include but not be limited to:
- Manage the CSA database for the respective implementing partners
- Support the RI database for the respective implementing partners
- Enter agricultural production data into the CSA Database
- Enter RI data into the database
- Documenting and filing the hard copies of the production data and support the IPs to do so
- Documenting and filing the hard copies of RI data
- Carry out simple analysis on production data collected by the IPs
- Support NURI baseline and survey data collection
- Support capacity building of implementing partners in data collection
- Support implementing partners in progress and annual report writing
- Writing monthly status reports on M&E activities conducted by the IPs
- Liaise with the CF M&E Coordinator about data collection with the IPs
- Any other duties assigned
Expected Outputs: The outputs for the assignment are:
- Up to date data for agricultural production and marketing collected and entered into the database.
- Up to date data for rural infrastructure entered in to the database
- Baseline and survey data stored in to the system
- Implementing partner staff are trained and collect data rightfully and timely
- All the production data properly recorded & documented and hard copies filed for future references.
- Monthly reports based on a format provided by Coordination Function.
- Databases are up to date and operational.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A minimum of a university degree in research related field preferably statistics, social sciences or IT.
- Any other training in research, M&E or data management is an added advantage.
- Previous experience in data collection and management is also essential for the job performance.
- Good report writing skills
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Power Point.
- Knowledge of data management software like SPSS is essential for the job.
- Good communication skills, both written and oral.
- Ability to work independently, often under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Good knowledge of the implementation area including the local language for data collection purposes.
Education and Experience
- A university honors degree in any of the fields: Agriculture (Crop Production), Agricultural Rural Innovation, Agricultural Land Use and Management from a recognized institution;
- At least 5 years working experience in the field of agricultural production and agribusiness with local communities in Uganda using different extension approaches.
- 3 years of experience in Team management is essential.
- Knowledge of the Ugandan agriculture sector with relevant contacts in private sector, civil society organizations, district and relevant agencies..
