About Us:
The World Bank Uganda Country Office seeks to hire an individual Consultant to provide technical support to the World Bank Energy Task ‘team based in Uganda Country Office, in preparation and implementation of Bank-financed projects in Uganda’s power sector. This position is a 100 staff day’s position for the initial contract period in Financial Year 2024-2025, renewable for an additional 150 staff days per annum based on performance and future work program.
Job summary: The Consultant will be based in Uganda and will report to the Lead Energy Specialist and the Senior Energy Specialist He/she will also work closely with members of the Task team and other consultants.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review project reports, project documents and other relevant documents;
- Support the technical review of relevant procurement packages and technical designs/reports as assigned from time to time; )
- Support the Task Team in dialogue with government and other stakeholders including development partners:
- Participate in discussions with government agencies, including closely following up on outstanding activities and providing necessary support; and lie) Participate in implementation support missions and prepare/contribute to aide memoires etc..
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The successful candidate should hold a master’s degree in a relevant discipline eg. Electrical Engineering, Business Administration or energy related studies from a recognized University or any other related field.
- With at least 10 years’ working experience, with 8 years in the power sectors in sub~Saharan Africa.
- Demonstrating experience with World Bank projects or similar international financial institution will be an added advantage.
- Good understanding of power sector issues in Uganda and the sub-Saharan Africa region
- High level coordination skills and experience in project management.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both in oral, presentations and in writing sections of papers, briefs, independent reports etc.
- Capacity to work simultaneously on tasks proves integrity and confidentiality.
- Experience from working in or” with donors/development agencies is desirable and a good understanding of Bank Operational petioles, practices and procedures, will be an advantage” (though not essential).
- Fluency in English language is required.
