The Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) is a limited liability company incorporated in Uganda under the Companies Act. UEDCL owns the 33KV and below voltage electricity distribution network and all the operational assets associated with the business currently leased to Umeme Ltd. The company monitors Umeme Ltd’s investment, generation, and distribution of power in eight territories covering over 67 Districts, operation of the pole plant at Lugogo, and execution of some rural electrification schemes on behalf of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
Job Summary: To monitor and ascertain any planned additions to Network Assets Licensees on UEDCL assets in the Concession areas, in accordance with requirements of the lease and assignment agreements LAA.
Lifecycle Management of UEDCL’s Network Asset’s
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Development of an Asset Management culture in UEDCL that will inform “cradle to grave” asset decisions
- Designing safety into every step of the Asset lifecycle interaction
- In conjunction with Technical support and Network Losses, Planning and Design, ensures that medium and long term plans reflect Technical Loss reduction targets, Asset Performance, Asset risk analysis and business environment
- Reflecting legal and regulatory compliance in Asset lifecycle planning and management
- Develops strategic inspection plans based on Asset analysis
- Contribute to Outage improvement programme with a view to significantly improving performance
- Development of maintenance plans to improve asset performance and bring them to best international standards.
- Developing specific investment projects to improve asset performance, reduce technical losses including scope, cost, benefits, alternatives, risks, and justification
- Systematic Emergency preparedness planning
- Management of specific unplanned outages in accordance with Outage protocols
- Contribute to the development of UEDCL business strategy development
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical engineering or its equivalent from a recognized university.
- Experience of not less than 4 years in a recognized organization
- A post-graduate qualification related to monitoring of assets is an added advantage
- Knowledge of the national electricity distribution network.
- Excellent analytical and monitoring skills.
- Membership to the professional body of engineers is an added advantage.
- Computer literacy with excellent working knowledge of Microsoft office, PowerPoint presentations, database management systems
- Valid driving permit
