Job Summary: The Policy and Campaigns Specialist will Over-see all aspects of quality policy and campaigns integration in technical programs, as a contribution towards sector specific strategic objectives, for sustainable child wellbeing. The job will involve linking local level AP actions to national level policy processes, as well as evidence based external engagements, while ensuring alignment to the WVU National Office Strategy and Our Promise. The job-holder will work collaboratively with the Technical Leads and Program Operations and Response Teams to define, plan and implement the relevant advocacy agenda.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the development and implementation of sector aligned advocacy and campaign initiatives aimed at improving services delivery for the well-being of especially the most vulnerable children including refugees.
- Coordinate capacity enhancement for staff and partners in advocacy and campaigning knowledge and skills for both development and humanitarian contexts.
- Provide guidance on integration of policy advocacy and campaigns during strategic planning and Technical Programs formulation, as well as annual operational plans.
- Support monitoring of policy advocacy and campaign initiatives to assess change and also document learning experiences for wider sharing.
- Contribute to resource mobilization for policy advocacy and campaigns work component.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal applicant should have a Post graduate Degree in Law/public policy and/or social sciences, Development Studies and/or other related courses in Humanities
- Technical skills: direct programming experience and expertise in the field of public policy and/or child rights advocacy
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in policy advocacy and campaigns, ensuring linkages of local actions to national level policy processes
- Strong experience in working with the Ugandan government
- Experience in working on child rights issues
- Experience in policy analysis and documentation
- Mobilization and awareness creation
- Building networks and coalitions
- Policy analysis and engagements
