Job Summary: The Project Officer, Early Childhood Care & Development (ECD) will be part of the team that will lead, design, implement projects and programs, document lessons learnt, build community capacities, provide technical support, mentoring of community volunteers, monitor and evaluate sustainable community development programs that champion children’s development technical oversight in coordinating and implementing quality community care for children.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Take a lead in design, quality assurance and evaluation of ECD project components
- Conduct ECD capacity assessment & building activities of existing staff, teacher, tutors, CBOs, other programme partners, volunteers and all stakeholders as appropriate within the project area.
- Adapt/Develop materials related to ECD, including training packages, assessment tools for smooth roll out and implementation of ECD project component.
- Ensure that there is linkage between the ECD project component beneficiaries to VSLA methodology for the sustained household income and child wellbeing.
- Ensure smooth operation of ECD activities, by implementing and monitoring ongoing activities; ensuring they are on schedule, are in line with budget and agreed results framework, yield expected results, and are reported on time.
- Liaise with ChildFund International ECD Advisers at Country and international offices to ensure adherence to relevant ChildFund standards, policies and procedures
- In consultation with M & E officer facilitate quarterly reflection sessions and document lessons learnt and progress to impact including the unintended outcomes/challenges.
- Prepare and disseminate regular ECD monitoring reports to all stakeholders.
- Provide information as required for knowledge management and learning, this will include but not limited to documentation of lessons learnt and promising practices generated from ECD interventions
- Identify areas of growth and funding gaps as necessary.
- Engage with other local development actors involved in ECD and complementary activities Support advocacy activities as required.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal applicant must hold a Bachelor degree or relevant qualification in Education, development studies, child development, community development, social work, social sciences, public health (with early childhood focus) or a related field.
- Post graduate Diploma in project planning and Management is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 5 years’ working experience of Child development projects with at least 3 years implementing ECD programmes.
- Strong participatory/ capacity building and training skills.
- Excellent organisational, logistic, communication and interpersonal skills
- Motorcycle license or ability and interest to learn and ride motorcycle.
- Knowledge of local language will be an added advantage.
