The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) is a Provident Fund mandated to provide social security to its members as prescribed by law under CAP 222 (Laws of Uganda) through efficient management of members’ contributions. The NSSF asset base is currently over Ugx. 9.8 trillion, making the Fund one of the largest players in Uganda’s economy.
Job Summary: The Estates Officer is responsible for the management of NSSF real estate properties, land, and for ensuring effective and efficient service delivery to the tenants, landlords and staff in Mbarara.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Market vacant space at the building(s) and liaise with existing and potential tenants with a view to letting out vacant space.
- Receive tenant queries and ensure that issues raised are resolved in a timely manner to enhance tenant satisfaction.
- Receive any inquiries about space to be let and forward them to the Senior Estates Supervisor for onward submission to the Property Manager if complex in nature.
- Assist new tenants with filling the relevant documentation before they occupy the property.
- Maintain records and proper documentation of all the affairs of the building; all correspondences, receipts and invoices, complaints register etc.
- Carry out regular inspection of the building to ensure daily cleanliness, maintenance and ensure that minor repairs are carried out in a timely manner.
- Report any faults if any to the Estates Supervisor and ensure that repairs are carried out in a timely manner.
- Project a positive attitude while dealing with visitors into the building, even the difficult ones.
- Promote a good corporate image by being courteous and knowledgeable about the Fund values and core activities.
- Maintain customer satisfaction of those coming to the building to promote positive word of mouth.
- Identify minor corrections that can be done using petty cash imprest for the property.
- Identify and undertake initiatives to manage costs of managing the building.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant for the NSSF Estates Officer job should hold a bachelor’s degree in: Business-related disciplines, Real Estate Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Architecture
- One year of experience in professional property management
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- IT skills (Word, excel, power point presentation)
- Problem solving skills
- Ability to plan ahead
- Job holder needs to exhibit creativity/innovation in the areas of property management and internal processes for better service delivery
- Customer care, communication and public relations skills
- Articulate, cordial, hospitable and pleasant personality
- Good telephone etiquette
- Good people management and interpersonal skills
- Strong negotiating skills
