Job Summary:
The Sales Representative is responsible for planning, implementing and tracking of sales of the Agro dealers, Retailers and Farms. The job-holder plans and manages targets with Retailers and dealers and ensures that these are achieved by the customers for every season. He or she also ensures the product sold to the customers is profitable and that Grainpulse Limited is able to list all the items it has on the central purchasing platform have been listed by the customers.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor and track customer performance
- Weekly and monthly tracking of customer Targets
- Develop and increase sales through these outlets
- Weekly / monthly visits to these customers depending on the volume driven through the outlet
- Product Visibility and Availability to the farmer community
- Place GPL displays at outlets to enhance visibility of GPL products to make them top of mind to the public
- Make sure that the outlets maintain an agreed level of stock throughout the seasons
- Ease identification of the outlets selling GPL blends for farmers by placing name boards
- Attract, grow and retain the Customer base to include but not limited to
- Agro Dealers
- Agro Retailers
- Farmers
- Participate and plan of Agricultural events
- Manage the annual Agricultural events calendar that the business needs to participate in
- Develop a workplan of key account activities and ensure budgets are signed off before the beginning of the season.
- Manage stakeholder buy in for adequate support
- To manage customer relationship and retention of existing customers
- To compile, analyze and develop actual sales and revenue data against sales and revenue targets
- Use relevant metrics and measures to routinely monitor progress against targets and take appropriate action to ensure targets are met or exceeded
- Consistently achieve monthly, quarterly, annual sales objectives in order to meet and exceed targets as agreed with the Head Sales and Distribution – Agro Inputs
- To initiate and support trade marketing activities
- Responsible for brand positioning that differentiates the company from its competitors and provides value proposition
- Brand development to promote company visibility in the area
- Oversight of all promotional items for use at various promotional events countrywide
- Exercise thought leadership by demonstrating an understanding of the customers’ business strategies and presenting the compelling value proposition of GPL
- Develop a pipeline of opportunities which are systematically qualified, by managing the accounts decision-making process to ensure closed sales
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate must possess a Bachelors degree in a Business-related field.
- Possession of a certificate in Agriculture will be an added advantage.
- He or she must have at least 3 years work experience in sales, however 1-year work experience in a related environment will be advantageous.
- The ideal candidate must have good communication, planning, decision-making, problemsolving, analytical, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Must be adaptable and have the ability to follow-up on potential and on-going sales opportunities.
- The job will involve business travel.
