LifeNet International (LN) exists to transform African health centers to provide quality, sustainable care. Operating in East Africa, LN works to improve the quality of health systems from the ground up and is specifically dedicated to health systems strengthening in the private and not-for-profit sectors. In Uganda, approximately 60% of all healthcare services are provided by faith-based, not-for-profit centers. Many of these centers serve rural, low-income populations. Through partnerships with faith-based health centers, LifeNet implements practical responses to everyday health challenges facing the poor.

Job Summary:  The Medical Project Associate will support LifeNet International (LN)’s medical projects that fall outside of its traditional partner training program. LifeNet is planning and implementing projects related to several capacity building and quality improvement services, including non-communicable diseases, and family planning/reproductive health. This role will help to build LN’s capacity to meet the needs of our partner health centers by providing targeted trainings, supporting monitoring and evaluation (M&E) efforts, participating in community sensitization and screening visits, and contributing to program design.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with project officers and team leaders to understand and accomplish individual project objectives
  • Coordinate with the Uganda Country Director to design and implement additional projects in areas of targeted capacity building, reproductive health, and staff training
  • Coordinate with the M&E team to ensure that project reporting is done effectively, accurately, and on time
  • Support community-based screening initiatives; engage LN partners and community health workers to mobilize community members and carry out successful interventions
  • Deliver training content developed by LN to partner health center staff
  • Carry out medical quality assessments for internal and external partners
  • Assist with additional program development and design specifically within the areas of primary health care and family planning

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree*
  • Preferred: Master’s degree, especially in global/public health or a related field
  • Experience in designing and/or delivering curriculum or training, especially in the fields of public health and medical education*
  • Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to ensure internal and external collaborators achieve a time-bound goal or project*
  • Excellent writing skills, with experience producing reports or other materials that summarize key findings*
  • Experience with project research, design, implementation, and/or evaluation
  • Experience with electronic data collection, e.g. through surveys or representatives in the field
  • Academic training and/or professional experience working in public health policy, programs, and/or service delivery
  • Cross-cultural experience
  • Ability to perform in an entrepreneurial and team-based environment, delivering strong results and asking for help when needed
  • Ability to function well in a diverse, cross-cultural work environment
  • An excitement for analyzing complex organizational problems, identifying innovative solutions, and engaging others to implement them, preferably in a low-resource environment
