EMERGENCY Life Support for Civilian War Victims (EMERGENCY) is an independent Italian organization established in 1994 to offer high-quality, free medical and surgical care to victims of war, landmines and poverty. It promotes a culture of peace, solidarity and respect for human rights. In cooperation with Ministry of Health, EMERGENCY has commencing its activities in Uganda which consist in managing the Centre of Excellence in Paediatric Surgery in Entebbe.
The hospital will have a capacity of 73 beds, with 300 staff. The laundry will serve all the departments of the hospital, ensuring proper delivery of clean and sanitized linen, towels, uniforms and pyjamas.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, direct, and control all activities and procedures regarding the functioning of the laundry.
- Ensure that all medical and non-medical laundry is cleaned and well maintained.
- Control the operations and work procedures and make sure that targeted objectives are met.
- Ensure that the needs of all the departments of the hospital are met in terms of collection and delivery.
- Ensure quality controls are in place, including in terms of hygiene.
- Ensure that supply levels are maintained and submit request of purchasing according to the needs.
- Ensure that all equipment is properly used, kept and maintained.
- Ensure optimum keeping and usage of resources.
- Supervise the tailoring department.
- Train and support the laundry team and delegate responsibilities.
- Keep record of cleaning materials, chemicals and linen and complete inventories.
- Ensures preventive maintenance and service is performed.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a diploma in Hotel Management
- At least five years of experience in similar jobs and similar places in terms of size.
- Languages: Fluent written and spoken English.

Working Conditions
- Contract of employment: 12 months contract (6 months’ probation period) with possible extension
- Basic Salary: According to EMERGENCY salary scale
