About the Project:
The Quality and Performance Institute (QPI) is a division of URC that has implemented quality improvement and operations research programs in health care since 1981 and continues to be at the cutting edge of health care improvement work in countries around the world. With the RHITES-N Acholi Project (Regional Health Integration to Enhance Services in Northern Uganda – Acholi), USAID will continue its support of the Government of Uganda’s (GOU) efforts to improve access to and use of health services in the country’s post-conflict northern region. RHITES-N Acholi Project activities will build on USAID investments and national advances to increase access to and use of high-quality integrated services that accelerate the ability and capacity to respond to the specific health needs of residents in the Acholi sub-region, and across the country leveraging the URC-ASSIST project successes.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct coaching and mentorships during VMMC camps for technical skills development, monitor surgical skills for prevention of adverse events (AEs) and support mobilization efforts within the field teams
- Support functionalization of the VMMC site QI initiatives, learning meetings, updating of the national QI database and documentation of success stories.
- Support data harmonization and utilization to guide performance improvement.
- Conduct on-job orientation and training of health workers on emergency resuscitation, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, monitoring of vital signs during emergencies
- Work with health facility teams to establish functional static VMMC services at accredited health facilities.
- Work with community mobilisers to maximize outputs for VMMC camps through community sensitization and dialogue sessions.
- Work with the district teams to plan for and implement VMMC camps for maximum impact
- Support documentation of VMMC data in primary and secondary MoH tools and, reporting on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis
- Plan and coordinate the implementation of appropriate quality improvement approaches to ensure compliance with MoH Guidelines and standards.
- Support districts prepare VMMC reports regularly as required
- Any other duties assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate should have Qualification in health including medicine, nursing, public health or another related field
- At least three years’ work experience gained through serving within a government institution or NGO with proven ability to coordinate activities of different stakeholders at district and or sub national level preferably in Safe Male Circumcision programs. At least 3 years work experience within SMC/VMMC programs in Uganda.
- Possession of a valid registration certificate from the Uganda Medical & Dental practitioners Council.
- Excellent communication or interpersonal skills is a must.
- Experience in handling Quality improvement approaches and providing clinical training to service providers and stake holders.
- Certified VMMC service provider with team leading skills
- Experience working with the ministry of health structures
- Must have adequate computer, communication and report writing skills
