Job Summary:  The Grants and Partnerships Intern will help us meet and exceed our fundraising goals by producing high-quality grant proposals and reports and organizing engaging site visits for donors and partners. We are looking for a prolific writer with excellent writing skills, and exceptional communication abilities. In this role, you will have a chance to engage directly with some of Pedon’s most critical donors and partners, work closely with field teams who implement our programs on ground, and develop compelling content and materials to showcase our impact to key stakeholders. You’ll join a motivated, passionate, high achieving team that is positioning Pedon Uganda Limited to be a leader in agricultural transformation of Uganda’s smallholder agriculture

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Write high-quality grant proposal, narratives, and supporting documents to submit to prospective and current funders.
  • Write high-quality grant reports that keep our stakeholders informed and connected to Pedon’s progress and mission
  • Investigation of institutional donors and funding opportunities through intensive online research
  • Support in editing and design of proposals, reports for donors and other documents
  • Support in preparation of institutional networking events
  • Help field follow-up and diligence requests from donors related to pending or submitted grant proposals.
  • Design, coordinate, and prepare for donor and partner visits, and ensure that programmed activities run smoothly.
  • Represent Pedon Uganda Limited in person and over email to international donors and partners
  • Lead engaging and informative site and field visits for international donors and partners visiting our programs.
  • Conduct research to support Pedon’s strategy for engaging with bilateral and multilateral donors
  • Source information from field team members and craft responses to answer donor or partner questions
  • Investigate and answer questions about funding application requirements to ensure the development of successful funding applications
  • Acquisition and donor retention

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Business Administration or a related field. Applicants MUST have graduated by September 2020.
  • One to two years of work experience handling grants and proposal writing
  • Demonstrated ability in writing successful grant proposals
  • Excellent and flawless command of English language, both spoken and written
  • Demonstrable interest of development sector, preferably through prior work/volunteer experience
  • Clear, precise and compelling writing skills
  • Minimum commitment of one (1) year, with a preference for those willing to stay longer
