About US:
The Warehouse Receipt System was established in Uganda in 2006 by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives. It is governed and regulated through the Warehouse Receipt System Act of 2006 (WRS Act, 2006) and regulations there of 2007. Section 3 of the WRS Act, 2006 provides for the establishment of the Uganda Warehouse Receipt System Authority, whereas sec. 7 establishes the Board of Directors of the Authority. It is defined as a system where Commodities can be used as security/collateral for financing (Inventory Credit). The issuer of the Warehouse Receipt will certify the deposit of commodities, hold the commodity in safe custody until the depositor or a new ascertained buyer claims the goods. This is possible where commodities are deposited in regularly inspected, certified, licensed and regulated storage facilities.
Job Summary: The Senior Inspector will perform regular inspections for warehouses. commodities. personnel. warehousing practices. etc. and recommend improvements to warehouses. To excel in this role. applicants should demonstrate great attention to detail with excellent technical and math abilities. The incumbent will uphold quality mechanisms set for the operationalization of the Warehouse Receipt System for certified and licensed warehouses to maintain conformity to standards and quality expectations
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform regular quality assessments/ inspections on warehouse facilities. personnel. commodities. etc.
- Monitor operations at warehouses to ensure that they meet warehousing standards
- Select output samples at warehouses and check them using appropriate methods [measuring dimensions. testing functionality. comparing to specifications etc.]
- Document inspection outcomes by completing detailed reports and performance records for submission to the Quality Manager.
- Recommend improvements to the warehousing practices to ensure quality control.
- Train the warehousing personnel and other stakeholders about quality control concerns.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Uganda Warehouse Receipt System Authority (UWRSA) Senior Inspector job opportunity must hold a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification in Logistics, Food science. Agribusiness.
- Certificate in quality control is preferred.
- A minimum of two years’ experience in a similar position.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office.
- Good math and technical skills.
