About Hortimap Program:
Through the four-year Hortimap program funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Technoserve and partners BID Network and Impact Capital Africa will transform the horticulture industry in Uganda. The program combines catalytic funding through a Market Development Facility and Technical Assistance fund to leverage private sector and local resources and expertise to strengthen SMEs and local supply chains, while delivering world-class entrepreneurship training to farmers and retailers to realize their potential. These interventions are expected to increase incomes for more than 31,000 farmers, create 11,000 jobs, and improve access to healthy, safe food for 250,000 Ugandan consumers.
Job Summary: This position is a part of the Market Development Facility (MDF) Team and supports work done by the MDF lead and partnership officers. The Partnership Analyst supports the MDF lead by providing analysis for the recruitment and selection of agribusiness supply chain clients / investees and the execution of supply chain improvement projects under the €4.1M HortiMAP Market Development Facility. The Market Development Facility team works to assist client agribusinesses to diagnose constraints and opportunities and apply bespoke technical assistance and financial solutions that address firm-specific constraints while demonstrating new models for replication and scale by other businesses. The partnership analyst will support this work through conducting in-depth diagnostics, calculation of ROI, and impact for MDF clients and value chain actors, including farmers.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth diagnostics, calculation of ROI, and impact for MDF clients and value chain actors, including farmers
- Analyse systems and tools to methodically identify TA providers
- Support close coordination with pre-identified providers of specialty horticulture such as Wageningen University Research & PUM Netherlands.
- Support mapping of client and partner’s needs and capabilities, standards for vetting them and
- ROI proposition (in accordance with the program framework) to the potential partners to secure their commitment to participate in the program
- Together with the M&E team, design an appropriate framework for supervision and tracking of MDF client performance and compliance with the obligations under the partnership roadmaps signed
- Collaborate with monitoring and results management colleagues to ensure rigorous data collection, analysis, and incorporation of learnings for adaptive management.
- Understand all gender integration requirements (donor as well as internal to TechnoServe) and ensure that partnerships reflect the project’s gender strategy.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the TechnoServe Partnership Analyst job should hold a Bachelor’s degree in business, agricultural economics, or other relevant field.
- Minimum of three years’ field and technical experience, agribusiness experience in Uganda is required
- High level of analytical skills
- Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills a must
- Ability to develop well-written, cohesive analyses and reports
- Ability to generate innovative solutions in work situations
- Proven ability and experience working with teams will be an added advantage
- Fluency in English required
