About US:

The International Community of Women living with HIV Eastern Africa is a regional advocacy network and membership based organisation.ICW Eastern Africa is run by and for HIV positive women. Our advocacy is based on evidence of our daily lived experiences to influence policies and programmes. We use participatory processes to ensure our work addresses the priorities of women living with HIV, including young women, from the grassroots.

 

ICWEA now plans to recruit a suitably qualified individuals of impeccable integrity and commitment to fill the following positions for the TASO/GF project;

 

Job Summary:  The Project Coordinator will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, managerial responsibility and oversight to the TASO/GF funded project that is implemented in partnership with UGANET/HRAPF. She will work with a multi-disciplinary team and serve as the project focal person to promote the project goals, objectives and achievements/successes.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Lead implementation and management of the project;
• Lead advocacy activities at district and national level;
• Strengthen capacity of local CBOs (organizations of people affected by malaria, TB and HIV/AIDS) to implement HIV and HIV related activities;
• Lead dialogues with different stakeholders in implementation of human rights responsive programs;
• Responsible for production of work plans, budgets and reports for the project;
• Maintain and monitor project plans, project schedules, budgets and expenditures; including ensuring that project deadlines are met;
• Direct the establishment of effective and efficient management and operating structures and systems
• Provide appropriate guidance to the staff of the Project, and continuously ensure that the Project has all the necessary resources to achieve the set targets.
• Conduct project staff performance appraisals in conjunction with the Programmes Director;
• Establish effective linkages that will help in effective and efficient achievement of project deliverables;
• Ensure compliance with TASO and Project policies, regulations and standards in all the activities of the project;
• Develop and implement strategies for achieving maximum project results/outcomes;
• Monitor and track progress toward achieving stated project outcomes;
• Ensure that the project adheres to the necessary national level frameworks and donor related guidelines and that all documentation is appropriately maintained;
• Organize, attend and participate in stakeholder meetings; and ensure that stakeholder views are well documented and inform continuous project improvement;
• Document and follow up on important actions and decisions relating to the Project;
• Assess project risks/challenges, issues and recommend and or implement mitigation measures where applicable;
• Provide administrative support as needed; and where necessary; and
• Undertake other project tasks/assignments as required and/or assigned by the supervisor.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• The ideal candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Development Evaluation, Project Management and Planning or a related field.
• Minimum of six years demonstrated experience in project planning, management, coordination and evaluation obtained at least from an NGO Sector or the UN or similar settings but (3) three of which should have been at a Project Coordinator Level
• Knowledge of major International donor rules/regulations and track record of implementing donor funded projects;
• Knowledge of Global Fund, its funding cycles and operations (including Country Coordinating Mechanisms);
• Technical knowledge of HIV&AIDS, TB, Malaria, SRHR, and working with people living with and/or affected by HIV, TB and malaria;
• Clear understanding of the national and international legislations, policies and practices on HIV&AIDS, TB, Malaria;
• Extensive knowledge in community work – particularly working with networks of people living with HIV, Key affected populations and people with disabilities;
• Previous knowledge in use of social accountability mechanisms especially the scorecard;
• Knowledge of district decentralized structures and operations;
• A keen sense of understanding of advocacy, campaigning and;
• Human Rights and Gender programming and considerations
