Job Summary:  The Application Support Specialist will provide I.T application support across Postbank I.T domain, serving both HQ and Offsite I.T customers. Resolving second level application requests and incidents to resolve customer incidents within agreed SLAs.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Monitor IT Applications uptime and performance through monitoring tools, alerts, dashboards.
  • Analysis and resolution of application-related issues which have been escalated from bank Level 1 support team during operations and maintain proper documentation/logs for resolution provided.
  • Co-ordinate with Application Vendors support in case of product bug/enhancement requirement and follow up with the vendor for early resolution and solution. Provide alternate solutions while pending the ¬nal resolution to help the bank to continue with the business functions.
  • Owning all Application related calls, problems and incidents assigned in the IT service desk system to carry out problem investigation and analysis, follow-up with the respective teams/Infosys and update the status with issue resolution and follow-up for closure.
  • Knowledge transfer to end users and Level 1 team members through organized on job and o -job training.
  • Own and document all Customization-Modifications done to the Bank’s Applications for continuity
  • Plan, co-ordinate and implement security measures to safeguard the Bank’s applications platform against accidental or unauthorized access or modification to the system.
  • Schedule, plan and execute the installation and testing of new products, upgrades, patches, or improvement to the applications.
  • Gather system enhancement, data extract requests and reporting requirements from system users and work closely with the information technology team to develop detailed technical requirements and resulting specifications.
  • Maintains Core Banking systems performance by performing proactive system capacity and availability monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting network problems; escalating problems to vendor.
  • Manage, configure and optimize applications’ integration with internal and external applications.
  • Carry out problem investigations and Effectively trouble shoot application related problems.
  • Provide support to Level 1 and Level 2 resources on problems and incidents
  • Participate in the execution of EOD/EOM/EOY activities for the core banking systems and investigate to resolution of any problems or incident from these process
  • Coordinate and own enhancements and problems in UAT till when they are deployed in production participate in Business Continuity Drills for core banking (DR)
  • Ensure to carryout continuous personal development regarding the systems they support.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science or Business computing
  • Certification in an IT related course is of added advantage
  • Practical training in IT related short courses
  • At least two years’ experience in IT department in a busy organisation
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve user problems
  • Ability to understand business needs
  • Versatile individual with a good attitude.
  • Desire to continuously learn from peers and industry
  • Proactive and good at problem solving
