Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Policy and Advocacy Specialist will lead the overall management, implementation, and reporting for policy and advocacy work.
  • He/she will provide strategic oversight and leadership to help CSSA achieve its advocacy and public policy goals by reaching out to government policy makers, representatives from bilateral and multilateral organizations, and other key decision makers.
  • He/she will be responsible for supporting rese ici ! analysis, producing key project documents, and monitoring relevant policy developments.
  • He should strengthen the capacity of CSSA partners, and supporting their advocacy initiatives and actions.
  • Work collaboration with relevant stakeholders at local, national, regional and international level.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Master’s degree in international relations, human rights, anthropology/social/political science or other relevant field;
  • Excellent written and verbal English including the ability to produce clear articulate evidence-based policy analysis;
  • Extensive experience in capacity development of CSOs on advocacy processes and tools;
  • Proven experience in conducting desk reviews, synthesizing complex information and producing advocacy materials;
  • Knowledge in report writing, documentation and presentation:
  • Excellent teamwork, networking, communication, and collaboration skills with a wide range of actors; Experienced knowledge of national and international development and relevant human rights frameworks:
  • Ability to respond flexibly to changing priorities and to set and work to deadlines;
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and work well under pressure to meet deadlines; and
  • Experience working on USAID-funded projects is preferred.
