Job Summary:  The pharmacy dispenser will be involved in the day to day running of the pharmacy through serving the clients and attending to other pharmacy duties.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve clients through dispensing medical supplies and attending to clients both on site and remotely, educating clients, resolving client complaints and other aspects of client support.
  • Monitors medical supplies stock for expiries and maintenance of optimum stock levels
  • Record keeping including regularly updating the systems in place on the availability of drugs and stock amidst other records.
  • Makes reports as necessary including reports on drugs that are no longer in use or not frequently used as necessary, recommedations on procurement, feedback to procurement on quality of the medical supplies, progress as per target sales points among others.
  • Ensures that the medications do not expire before use by practicing the FEFO method (First to Expire First Out).
  • Maintains the work area in a clean and systematic order labeling all shelves and cabinets.
  • Ensures the disposing of medications according to the recommended disposal guidelines.
  • Demonstrates respect for clients at all times.
  • Demonstrates a positive rapport and cooperative work relationship with other company associates.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all clients
  • Ensure safety to themselves, other staff members or customers.
  • Follows and complies with healthcare service policies, processes and applies them to own work activities, including using/wearing Personal Protective Equipment as required.
  • Early and accurate reporting of incidents at work and raising issues of concern when identified.
  • Regularly completes training requirements to stay up-to-date on the evolving policies and procedures as well as any drug assistance programs in which the pharmacy participates.
  • Other official duties may be assigned as the need arises to ensure smooth pharmacy operations and maximize customer satisfaction.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal applicant must hold a Diploma in Pharmacy/Certificate in nursing from a recognized institution.
  • Possess an up-to-date practicing licence from the Allied Health Professionals Council.
  • Computer knowledge and skills.
  • Client satisfaction oriented.
  • Good knowledge of general scientific principles, practices and specialized techniques used in the practice of pharmacy dispensing.
  • High degree of integrity and professional values.
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills.
  • Good teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Good oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • High level planning and organizational skills including efficient and effective time management and the ability to prioritize tasks.
