Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) Uganda is a Pan-African organization launched in February 1997 as part of the larger FAWE network of 34 National Chapters operating in 33 countries across Africa. FAWE Uganda exists to address the gender disparities in education and ensure that the girl-child accesses school, remains in school and completes their education. FAWE Uganda has received funding from UN Women for the education of 150 Girls from Tooro Kingdom and is looking to hiring an Education Project Officer to support the implementation of this project.
Job Summary: The Project Officer shall be part of the programs team and shall provide support in planning, budgeting and implementation of the Pro-SEVU Project activities in Tooro Kingdom. She/he has to ensure that high quality work is done in the delivery of services towards achieving the objectives of the project.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and implement the Education project activities according to proposal, strategy , budget and plan
- Involve and inform communities and community leaders about the activities
- Break down the operational plans into weekly, monthly and quarterly implementation plans for ease of implementation.
- Coordinate with the schools and district leaders where the learners have been placed
- Organize and conduct regular meetings with schools, district education officers and kingdom officials in view of improving implementation
- Keep updated data base of all the learners enrolled in specific schools including trucking their academic engagement, performance and wellbeing in school for improved outcomes
- Compile and submit monthly activity and quarterly reports to the supervisor.
- Liaise and coordinate with relevant authorities and communities at field level
- Organize field/community level activities in liaison with sub county, district and kingdom officials to sensitize communities on “Go back to school” campaign and second chance education.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, Social Work and Social Administration, Development Studies, Adult and Community Education or related field is essential
- At least three years’ experience with a reputable NGO in Education related fields
- Computer Literacy (MS Word, Excel, Power Point)
- Knowledge of the local language is essential
- Ability to ride a motorcycle is essential
- Working knowledge of project planning and management
- Demonstrated capacity building skills
- High standard of integrity, discretion and loyalty
- Self-driven and able to work under minimal supervision
- Demonstrated report writing skills
- Excellent communication skills
- An excellent understanding of the concepts and practices of participatory development approaches
