DFCU Limited was started by the Commonwealth Development Corporation (CDC) of the United Kingdom and the Government of Uganda through the Uganda Development Corporation (UDC) under the name of Development Finance Company of Uganda Limited. Later restructuring brought in DEG (of Germany) and International Finance Corporation (IFC) as equal partners with CDC and UDC, each having a 25% stake in the company. Its objective was to support long-term development projects whose financing needs and risk did not appeal to the then existing financial commercial lending institutions.
Job Summary: Reporting to the Head of Personal Banking, the Manager – Home Loans will be responsible for growing the home loans portfolio through penetration of new markets, retention of existing customers and drive profitability of the home loans product.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Grow the home loans portfolio and increase market share.
- Identify development partners in the real estate industry to create potential for the home loans product.
- Monitor market trends and information collected by the Bank to identify potential areas for the development of new home loan products, and the enhancement of existing products to inform the right proposition of the product and make it competitive.
- Closely monitor the portfolio to keep within the bank’s quality parameters.
- Train the sales team and the rest of the Bank staff to cross sell and deep sell the home loans to enhance the growth of the home loans.
- Provide regular feedback on product requirements for local markets, including product specifications functionality and pricing.
- Keep abreast with the market trends to identify any early warning signs that could potentially affect the Bank’s home loan portfolio and work with the relevant stakeholders to mitigate the risks.
- Design campaigns aimed at creating awareness and growing the portfolio.
- Responsible for the Home lending financial targets as will be agreed, from time to time, using different parameters especially on customer numbers, liabilities, assets and revenue growth.
- Manage and grow the home loans pipeline through periodic reviews and productivity tracking.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the DFCU Bank Manager – Home Loans job must hold a Bachelor’s Degree.
- Relevant Practical training in banking product management.
- A minimum of five years’ experience in Banking, of which 2 must be in home loans and mortgages.
- This position requires a highly self-directed with independent judgment individual who is passionate about the fields of community development and banking.
- Must have critical thinking, analytical, attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Must have an in-depth understanding about banking product features, pricing, benefits, positioning, design, and promotions.
- Highly organized and self-driven.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to demonstrate and provide coaching exceptional customer service.
- The ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in written form in a professional manner is deemed essential.
- Ability to build functioning working relationships across organizational and cultural boundaries.
- Ability to demonstrate positive image and role model dfcu’s values and leadership behaviours.
- Must be a person of impeccable integrity.
