The United States Embassy in Kampala, Uganda has enjoyed diplomatic relations with Uganda for over 30 years. Ambassador Natalie E. Brown currently heads the U.S Mission to Uganda. The Mission is composed of several offices and organizations all working under the auspices of the Embassy and at the direction of the Ambassador.

- Centers for Disease Control (CDC)

Job Summary: The Storekeeper (Expendables) will work under the supervision of the Supply Supervisor (Expendables) to manage the expendable warehouse with a total value of expendable supplies of USD 1,200,000. Incumbent deals with employees of all agencies subscribing to ICASS, both U.S. Direct Hires and FSNs (Foreign Service Nationals (FSNs), in person on the phone or via e-mail. Incumbent serves as an incidental operator of official vehicles and meets all requirements outlined in 14 FAM 433.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Records Management – 50%
- Incumbent maintains a running record of all supplies in the expendable warehouse.
- Handles all expendable requests for office and maintenance supplies.
- Is responsible for the movement of supplies in and out of the supplies store ensuring appropriate personnel sign approvals and receipts of goods.
Warehouse management – 30%
- Keeps supplies and the warehouse in a clean, tidy and orderly fashion and is responsible for receiving, packing and storing of new stock.
- Must have knowledge of the location of all supplies in the warehouse and forward all issuance forms to the General Services Clerk daily.
- Ensures timely responses to all in-coming requests; certifies that all necessary information has been entered on the request form and is responsible for all the necessary documentation needed for the disposal of outdated stock.
Inventory Management – 20%
- Conducts annual inventory to help ensure that all items are stored properly, no missing items and no safety or fire hazards exist.
- During the inventory period, helps the inventory clerks in counting and reconciliation of stock.
- Assists in arranging items for sale and disposal.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

- The applicants for the United States US Embassy Storekeeper (Expendables) job opportunity should have completed secondary school (O & A Level) is required.
- At least two years of clerical and warehouse store operations is required.
- Working knowledge of local commodities market for procurement of expendable supplies on the local market is required.
- Must have general knowledge of logistics and inventory management and warehousing best practices as they apply to the Expendables property section.
- Must have good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), must be able to lift heavy materials/items (up to 75lbs) and drive a stick shift gear (manual car).
- Must be able to operate non-motorized lifting aids such as power lifts or Pallet Jack.
- Basic numerical skills are required for managing supplies and petty cash.
- Must be able to deal tactfully with ICASS customers especially concerning inventories.
- Must have a valid Class B driver’s license and must have had a license for a minimum of 5 years.
- Language: English level III (Good working knowledge) Reading/Writing/Speaking is required.
