The Uganda Retirement Benefits Regulatory Authority manages retirement plans for Uganda’s public workforce by serving as the fiduciary stewards of the contributions and disbursements of the pension trust funds. In partnership with the state’s public employers, we help ensure that they can offer their employees a comprehensive retirement plan that is responsive to their needs and is equitable to all stakeholders. URBRA’s primary mandates include;

  • Regulate the establishment, management and operation of retirement benefits schemes in Uganda in both private and public sector
  • Supervise institutions which provide retirement benefits products and services
  • Protect the interest of member and beneficiaries of retirement benefits schemes
  • Promote the development of the retirement benefits sector
  • Provide for licensing for custodians, trustees, administration and fund managers of retirement benefits schemes, the appointment of inspectors and interim administrators.

 

Job Summary: The Legal Assistant will conduct analysis of financial reports from licensed entities and ensure compliance with reporting and accounting standards.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct legal research and prepare legal documents and retrieving information and documents for legal staff,
  • Examine legal documents and correspondence, procedural instructions and assist the Directorate in the preparation of responses.
  • Provide administrative support required in the Directorate like drafting the correspondence, pleadings, briefs, opinions, legal memoranda, and any other related legal documentation
  • File and serve court documents, pleadings and managing correspondences made with the office of the Solicitor General, external lawyers, judicial officers and courts of judicature.
  • Compile, verify and deliver all documentation related to the any case involving the Authority are properly prepared and filed;
  • Receive and review complaints submitted to the Authority regarding sector players
  • Follow-up sector players to provide responses to complaints submitted.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold an Honors Bachelor’s degree of Laws from a recognized institution
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice.
