Job Summary:
The Supply & Logistics Assistant will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of supplies and services, directly impacting the quality and timeliness of support provided to children across Uganda. The role involves coordinating procurement and contracting services, in-country logistics, warehousing, and inventory management, among other duties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the implementation of the supply and logistics strategy.
- Support in contracting services and procurement processes, ensuring efficiency and compliance with UNICEF’s guidelines.
- Manage in-country logistics, including customs clearance, storage, and distribution of supplies.
- Conduct regular physical counts of inventory and ensure proper warehouse management.
- Assist in alternative delivery mechanisms and procurement services, aiming for collaborative procurement arrangements.
- Maintain accurate records, documentation, and provide timely reports on supply and logistics activities.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- Completed secondary education with additional training in Business or a related field.
- At least five years of relevant working experience in supply & logistics operations.
- Familiarity with complex operations in a commercial or development context.
- Knowledge of development and humanitarian work is an advantage.
- Proficiency in English; knowledge of another UN language is an advantage.
- Demonstrated knowledge of supply chain policies, partnership mechanisms, and relevant regulations.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to manage ambiguity and complexity.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others.
