Job Summary:
The Driver – Kyaka is primarily responsible for driving and maintaining CWS/RSC Africa vehicles to complete assigned errands on behalf of the organization.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Administration (95%):
- Drive CWS/RSC Africa motor vehicles to complete assigned duties.
- Clean and maintain official CWS/RSC Africa vehicles, conducting regular checks to ensure mechanical soundness and reporting any issues to the General Service Officer.
- Provide safe transportation for CWS/RSC Africa staff and visitors to meetings and other destinations.
- Handle mail collection and distribution, postage, banking tasks, and petty cash replenishment.
- Maintain accurate delivery records and assist with general clerical duties as assigned.
- Facilitate work permits, alien registration certificates, and visas for staff.
- Perform minor vehicle repairs and obtain quotations for purchases as directed.
- Record all trips made and ensure vehicles have adequate fuel levels.
Other duties (5%):
- Undertake additional duties as assigned to enhance CWS/RSC Africa office operations.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- Diploma in a relevant field required.
- B, B1, D1 driving permit classes required.
- Defensive driving certification required.
- Five (5) years of driving experience with both automatic and manual vehicles required, with at least 3 years in an international NGO setting.
- Working knowledge of basic motor vehicle mechanics and Uganda roadways required.
- Ability to manage large workloads under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Maintain accurate records and make sound decisions independently.
- Proficiency in English language, both written and oral, required.
- Strong communication skills and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion essential.
