About RHSP:

Rakai Health Sciences Program (RHSP) is a collaborative biomedical research and service delivery organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of the local population through community-based research, curative services, and prevention strategies in the districts of South-central Uganda.

Job Summary:

The Public Relations Officer will manage and coordinate public relations, corporate communication, and social responsibility activities of the organization. This role involves capturing and communicating important moments, updating social media handles, organizing program functions, coordinating media relations, and supporting corporate social responsibility initiatives.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Produce periodic newsletters, reports, and bulletins to communicate important moments.
  2. Manage and update organization’s social media handles.
  3. Support the organization of program functions involving national and international stakeholders.
  4. Participate in program review meetings to identify success stories for communication.
  5. Design and review branding tools for the organization and manage archival of approved branding tools.
  6. Propose visibility opportunities to management and monitor corporate image.
  7. Plan and organize PR events, community programs, and initiatives.
  8. Coordinate media relations in liaison with management.
  9. Execute organization’s corporate social responsibility initiatives.
  10. Perform any other tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in courses related to Digital Media, Interaction Design, or Information Science.
  • Two years of management experience in Web and digital media.
  • Experience with editing and production of reports for public information.
  • Good public presentation and communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Proficiency in Adobe suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign.
