Five Die In Karuma –Pakwach Road Accident

Five people were today morning killed in an accident along the Karuma- Pakwach road.

The 9am accident involved a vehicle and a boda- boda rider along Adibuk junction in Lii Sub County in Nwoya district.

The vehicle reportedly hit a boda- boda rider as he attempted to cross the road. The rider, according to eye witnesses, was knocked by a speeding Fuso Truck registration number UAV 533F.

Four people died on the spot.  Police in Nwoya  identified them as William Okello, Monday Amusa, Richard Omparanya Bazar and an unidentified man. Another victim died while being rushed.

Two people were injured and  are currently at Kiryandongo hospital for treatment.

The dead are at Kiryandongo hospital mortuary.

Nwoya District Police Commander Dan Okello said the lorry was carrying traders travelling to a market in Alero, Nwoya district.

The Police commander said the driver of the truck handed himself to Kamdini police after the accident.

The police commander said most of the accidents along the high way are caused by reckless driving.

Three people were in June killed in an accident along the same road when the bus they were traveling in hit an elephant and overturned. The elephant was also killed in the accident.
