Job Summary: The AFL Assistant will be in charge of accounting and financial management of a new project with European Union (EU) that the organization is implementing in Uganda.
This position is based in Kampala under the supervision of AFL Coordinator.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Accountancy management:
- Control the financial reports and the supporting documents submitted on a quarterly basis by the local partners implementing the EU project and transfer them into the accounting system.
- Book ASF expenses into the accounting system
- In charge of the annual closing of accounting for the project in compliance with ASF and EU requirements
Treasury management
- Control the treasury requests of the project partners and validate transfers
- Perform monthly forecast for the project
Budget and financial management
- Prepare financial reports (internal and external)
- Analyze the budget follow-up of the project and provide regular reporting to the program coordinator
- Prepare financial amendment to the project budget (internal and external)
Administrative and Management
- Proper archiving of monthly payroll and pay slips
- Prepare monthly timesheets
- Prepare and pay the required monthly declarations in compliance with Ugandan labor law
- Archive individual files of staff
- Monitor and prepare renewal of permits and work titles
Logistics
- Manage the supply chain of the project and coordinate with service providers
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal applicant must hold a Bachelors Degree in Economics, Accounting/Financial management, Business Administration or any related course
- At least three years of experience in financial management in a similar role preferably with an NGO
- Financial/Accountancy management is key
- Experience in Logistics and administration is an asset
- IT: High level of computer literacy (knowledge of well-known NGO accounting software, advanced Excel, Word)
- Excellent interpersonal skills and multitasking capacity
- Desire to take on new challenges
- Driver’s license
- Motivation to integrate a multicultural and international organization
