About US:
The Uganda Law Reform Commission is established under Article 248(1) of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda. Its primary mandate is to study and keep under constant review the Acts and all other laws comprising the laws of Uganda with a view to making recommendations for their systematic improvement, development, modernisation and reform.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Deputizing for the head of department, Law Revision Department.
- Coordinating law revision projects and activities.
- Developing staff development strategies.
- Coordinating and overseeing development of work plans and budgets for the department.
- Overseeing provision of technical assistance to government ministries, departments and agencies.
- Supervising, guiding and appraising subordinate staff.
- Performing any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- An honours bachelor’s degree in law from a recognised university and a diploma in legal practice from an institution recognized by the Uganda Law Council.
- A minimum of ten (10) years of relevant working experience, of which three (3) should be in legislative drafting at the level of Principal in Government or equivalent experience from a reputable organisation.
- A minimum of certificate training in legislative drafting.
- Good computer skills.
- Knowledge of project planning and management.
- A relevant masters’ degree will be an added advantage.
