The Deposit Protection Fund of Uganda (DPF) is a Ugandan government agency that provides deposit insurance to depositors in Ugandan Banks, Credit Institutions and Microfinance Deposit-taking Institutions (MDIs).
Job Summary: The Assistant Manager – Investments (Front Office) will mainly generate revenue and identify potential investment opportunities for the Fund, participate in buying and selling securities, develop and implement financial and investment plans.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Source investments to be made on behalf of the Fund.
- Perform the appropriate due diligence to substantiate the long-term value of investments and confirm that investments are consistent with the Fund’s investment guidelines.
- Oversee all portfolio and asset management responsibilities during the term of investments.
- Develop and update the Fund’s Investment policy and procedure proposals that clearly articulate the Fund’s value proposition.
- Discusses investment options with Head Investments and keep him/her informed about transactions.
- Offers advice on the purchase or sale of securities.
- Analyzes market conditions to determine optimum times to execute securities transactions.
- Participates in actual deal execution.
- Develops investment plans, based on the Fund’s investment policy and strategy.
- Provides information and advice regarding fluctuations or securities transactions affecting plans or accounts.
- Reviews financial market reports, business publications, or other material to identify potential investments or to keep abreast of trends affecting market conditions.
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned, within your scope of practice.

- Economic research on macroeconomic developments
- Formulation and update of Investment Policy Guidelines
- Formulation and update of Investment Procedures Manuals
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Deposit Protection Fund of Uganda (DPF) Assistant Manager – Investments (Front Office) job placement must hold a first-class or upper second-class bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, banking, economics, statistics, mathematics or related area, from an accredited institution, is essential.
- 5+ years’ work experience with demonstrable investment experience is essential.
- A master’s in finance or a related field desirable.
- Passed and completed Chartered Financial Analyst Level 1 Exam is desirable.
- Track-record of sourcing, structuring and closing investments is desirable.
- Prior experience in investment analysis is desirable.
- Demonstrated proficiency of MS office packages is desirable.
