Mission Statement: St. Mary’s Midwifery Training School, serving in the spirit of the Catholic identity and reflecting the mission of Ambrosoli Memorial Hospital aims to educate highly competent midwifery leaders with a strong sense of moral responsibility and the social values demanded by the challenges of the world today and our local communities.
St. Mary’s Midwifery Training School is the finest midwifery training facility in Uganda. It is fully accredited by the Ministry of Education and Sports and Uganda Catholic Medical Bureau and approved by the National Council for Higher Education. A professional midwifery education from St. Mary’s Midwifery Training School provides a firm foundation to an exciting career in healthcare. Our academic programs set the pace for the midwifery profession in Uganda consistently producing the highest quality, highest performing and most competent midwives. Our programs prepare students for professional practice positions in a variety of settings, capable of assuming leadership positions within a changing healthcare system and world.

This provides students not only with excellent learning experiences but the opportunity to develop healthy psychosocial behaviors within traditional culture; all contributing to a rich and diverse experience that prepares students to competently and confidently assume the role of a professional midwife.
Course requirements are designed to allow students to obtain the knowledge needed for care of people of all ages and cultures. The study of professional midwifery includes classroom and laboratory instruction in the art and science of nursing and supervised clinical instruction in a variety of hospital and community settings.
Each year of the curriculum builds upon content from the previous one as students are prepared to care for individuals, families, groups and communities with increasingly complex health care needs and problems. In addition, with increasing complexity, students are given opportunities to collaborate and cooperate within a multidisciplinary team approach to health care.
