Bukalasa started in 1920 as a research centre for cotton. On 27th September 1957, Sir Andrew Cohen laid the foundation stone for Bukalasa Agricultural
College, offering a two-year Certificate course in Agriculture.

A diploma course in the same discipline was introduced in 1960.
In 1991 Entebbe Veterinary Training Institute was transferred to and merged with Bukalasa Agricultural College. Which saw the college introducing animal-related courses. Thereafter the
target was also expanded from producing public extension workers to include manpower for both public and private sectors.

Bukalasa Agricultural College Admissions Guide

The college enrols students at different levels, that is certificate level all for Two (2) years, and diploma level all for Two (2) years and Distance learning diploma for only Animal Husbandry and Agriculture for Three (3) years.

Admissions for certificate level take place in March every year while for diploma is in September every year.

Bukalasa Agricultural College Application Procedure

TO  ALL APPLICANTS

This is to inform you that the process of application is as follows:

  1. Download the Application form for certificate programmes and Bank_slip
  2. The Applicant should fill in the Application Form accordingly
  3. Attach all the necessary documents as directed in the form
  4. Submit a hard copy to the Academic Registrar together with the necessary requirements

You can also directly pick the forms from the college campus.

Application forms are obtained from the college for privately sponsored students.
Fees structure for private students.

Diploma 1,163,000/= 1,166,000/
Certificate 1,143,000/= 1,146,000/=

Foreign students pay US $ 550 per semester.
On successful completion of the course, a convocation graduation fee shall be paid.

Registration For Bukalasa Agricultural College

Every new students has to register in the respective courses applied for to acquire the Registration Number the uniquely identifies him/her from other students. This process continues for each semester although the Registration Numbers do not change  (every semester, registration takes place).

distance learning arrangement.

Bukalasa Agricultural College Entry Requirements

Diploma Courses Requirements
Advanced Level Certificate with at least a principal pass in Biology/Agriculture plus 2 subsidiary passes in the main subject combination.
OR
A Junior Certificate from recognised Farm School with at least a credit at both stages plus a good ordinary level certificate with at least 3 credits in
science subjects including Biology/ Agriculture and not failures in English and Mathematics

Certificate Courses Requirements
Good ordinary level certificate with at least 3 credits in science subjects notably Biology/ Agriculture. English and Mathematics also must
have been passed.
NB: Government sponsors a few students at Diploma
level who are selected through the Joint Admissions Board

Time Table

The office is also responsible for designing the time tables for all the courses offered at the college and for both certificate and diploma. The time table for normal programme runs for 15 weeks and then the examination time table takes over for 2 weeks.

Normal time table runs from 6:30 am up to 5:00 pm Monday to Friday but on some occasions can happen over weekends.

Student Assesment At Bukalasa Agricultural College

The office goes on to also supervise the operations of the assessment (Assignments and examinations). During the semester, assignments (40%) are done and then at the end of the semester, students sit for the end of semester exams (60%). It receives results for the Academic Board and then proceeds to award the Transcripts and Certificates.

Distance Learning Programme:
In addition to the above, also Primary teachers in Agriculture and Education Teachers from NTCs are considered.

Diploma

  1. Certificate holders in Agricultural discipline.
    Credit / Distinction certificate
  2. Holders of Farm Schools Certificate with
    good ‘O’ level results.
  3. Primary teachers Diploma in Agricultural
    training.
  4. N.T.C Teachers Diploma in Education
    (Agriculture)

Tailor-made course of 2 to 4 weeks’ duration are programmed starting August:
Poultry
Dairy production
Livestock feed mixing
Pig production
Horticulture
Apiary ( bee keeping)
Sustainable agriculture. Etc

There is an opportunity for an international internship
with Agro-studies for students who excel.

Certificate holders can advance to Diploma level.
Diploma holders continue to higher institutions (including abroad) for degree courses.
