Building on the successful implementation of the Business Development Services (BDS) programme under Business Sector Advocacy Challenge (BUSAC) Fund Phase III, the Fund has announced a limited call for applications for support under Window 5 for the private sector and farmer-based organizations.

Window 5 of BUSAC III is a facility reserved to strengthen the capacity of Private Sector Organizations (PSOs) and Farmer Based Organizations (FBOs) to facilitate the provision of BDS to their members in response to improvements in the business environment following successful advocacy campaigns.

The Fund will consider applications from PSOs on BDS modules and topics that will improve the competitiveness and growth potentials of their members.

BUSAC Fund is a programme set-up to strengthen the advocacy capacity of private sector organisations (PSOs) in Ghana.

Supported by DANIDA (lead Development Partner), USAID and the EU, BUSAC Fund phase III is expected to lead to an “improved business environment through enhanced advocacy capacity of private sector organisations and creation of platforms for private-public dialogue”.

BUSAC Funding for PSOs and FBOs in Ghana – Priority Areas

The facility will finance BDS modules and topics within the BUSAC Fund’s priority areas:

 

  • Sustainable Agriculture
  • Green Growth
  • Human Rights Based Approach (HRBA)Funding Information

    Window 5 is a matching grant facility, hence the maximum grant size is Fifty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHS50,000), constituting 80% of the total eligible cost of the BDS training.

    The applicant is expected to contribute the remaining 20% of the total cost.

    Eligibility Criteria for BUSAC Funding for PSOs and FBOs in Ghana

    To be eligible for support under Window 5, the applicant must have the following:

  • Be a Private Sector Organization such as a business association, a farmer-based organisation, a trade union or other association within the labour market.
  • Be registered at the Registrar General’s Department or District Assembly.
  • Must have the managerial capacity to manage the grant contract and its reporting systems.
  • Must have a strategy for continuity and sustainability.
  • Business associations who have not previously benefitted from the Fund’s BDS support are particularly encouraged to apply.
  • Interested organizations must download the BDS application forms and send it via email at the address given on the website.
