Business Analyst – SME Jobs – Tropical Bank Limited
Tropical Bank Limited, a financial institution in Uganda, is seeking a Business Analyst for their Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) unit. The position is based in Kampala, Uganda.
About Tropical Bank Limited: Established in 1973, Tropical Bank Limited has evolved to offer personalized commercial banking services to various sectors including parastatals, corporates, SMEs, individuals, and NGOs. The bank is predominantly owned by the Libyan Foreign Bank and the Government of Uganda.
Job Summary: The Business Analyst – SME will play a crucial role in the development and analysis of SME credit proposals, ensuring a quality portfolio through effective credit appraisal and due diligence. Additionally, the incumbent will provide administrative support to the SME unit in alignment with the bank’s policies and regulatory framework.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review and maintain a register of all SME Loans in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Follow up on SME Loan facilities from inception to disbursement, ensuring adherence to bank credit policies.
- Monitor loan documentation and approvals in loan origination systems.
- Document and resolve errors, maintaining a log for follow-up.
- Monitor pending loan applications and report outstanding items.
- Ensure compliance with KYC for all files.
- Monitor the loan book’s performance to maintain quality.
- Address customer queries and complaints in a timely manner.
- Contribute to achieving the bank’s PAR & NPA ratio targets.
- Control costs within the agreed budget.
- Comply with AML/CFT/CPF policies and procedures.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- An Honours degree in banking, Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, Management, or a relevant field.
- Practical training in banking or product management.
- At least three years of experience in banking, with one year in a credit-related role.
- Proficiency in MS Office tools.
- Understanding of bank products, services, and operational issues in Uganda.
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and demonstrate a high level of integrity.
- Fluency in English, and preferably Luganda.
