ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF

1.JOB TITLE: University Secretary

Reports to:

Vice Chancellor

Salary scale:

M3

Purpose of

the job: To provide general

administration of the University as provided for under Section 33 of the Universities and Other Institutions Act 2001 (as amended)

A. Key Functions

i.To provide professional leadership and guidance in the delivery of management, administration, legal and medical support services.

ii.To be the Accounting Officer of the University

iii.To ensure proper and efficient utilization of resources

iv.To be responsible for coordination of the Financial Reporting , Planning and Budget processes of the University

v.To serve as Secretary to Council and its committees

vi.To ensure timely, efficient and accurate communication of Council decisions to stakeholders

vii.To interpret and implement Council decisions and policies

viii.To coordinate the procurement of goods and services and ensuring that all contractual obligations are fulfilled in accordance with PPDA Act 2003 (as amended)

ix.To be responsible for the production and maintenance of an Almanac for Council and its committees

x.To be responsible for the maintenance and regular up-date of the University’s Asset

Register, including all her lands

xi.To serve as custodian of the University Seal and administrator of the assets

B.Person Specific

i.Should hold a Masters Degree in Business Administration/Management/Planning or Law or equivalent from a recognized institution of Higher Learning. Financial Management background will be an added advantage.

ii.Should have strong leadership, effective

interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills.

iii) Should have at least eight (8) years of relevant

working experience of administration/ management in a recognized institution of Higher Learning or reputable organisation, five (5) of which served at a senior a level.

iv)Should have good managerial skills

v)Must be computer literate

C. Tenure of Appointment

The appointment shall be for a period of five (5) years with effect from the date of assumption of duty and renewable once upon satisfactory performance

D. Age limit:

Applicants should preferably not be less than 45 and not exceed 55 years of age at the time of submission of application.

TEACHING AND SUPPORT POSITIONS:

FACULTY OF ENGINNERING

Departments:

1) Water Resource Engineering (Lecturer, 1 Post) Salary Scale: M6

First class or Second class upper division Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering and a Master of Science in Civil or Water Resources Engineering from a recognized University.

2)Agricultural Mechanization & Irrigation Engineering, Lecturer (1 Post), Salary Scale:

M6

First class or Second upper division Bachelor of Science Degree in electrical engineering and a Masters Degree in electrical engineering or electronic engineering from a recognized University.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR TEACHING POSITIONS:-

1)All Masters Degrees must have a research component (Plan A) in the area of specialization from a recognized Institution.

2)Teaching experience in an Institution of higher learning will be an added advantage.

3)Age limit is below 50 years

3.Chief Technician- Ginning and Textile Engineering

Salary Scale:M6

Department: Ginning and Textile Engineering

Job Summary:

Management of the day to day operations of the Departmental Workshop/ Laboratory, ensures proper installation and maintenance of equipments and to provide technical support to the Lecturers and Students during practical training sessions.

Qualifications:

a) Honors Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering and a Masters Degree in the relevant area of specialization from a recognized University will be an added advantage

b) Experience of three (3) years in the relevant area.

4.Chief Technician- Agricultural Mechanization & Irrigation Engineering Salary Scale:M6

Department: Mechanization & Irrigation Engineering

Job Summary:

5. Technician

Department: Ginning and Textile Engineering

Salary Scale: M12

Job Summary:

To support the Senior Technician in the management of day to day operations of the Ginnery, maintenance of equipment and provision of technical support to the Lecturers and Students during practical training sessions.

Qualifications:

a)An Ordinary Diploma or its equivalent in Ginning Engineering

b)Computer skills

c)Have two (2) years’ experience in the relevant area

d)Should be able to demonstrate to students practical experiments in relevant area

e)Age limit is below 40 years
