Hivos East Africa is seeking to change the Domestic Workers (DW) sector in Kenya through funding an organization with experience in elevating DW wages, job opportunities, rights, voice and protection.

In order to address these issues, they would like to use ICT as an enabler.

Hivos seeks new and creative solutions to persistent global problems; solutions created by people taking their lives into their own hands.

They offer a positive counterbalancing force against discrimination, inequality, abuse of power and the unsustainable use of our planet’s resources.

Their mission is to innovate for social change. With smart projects in the right places, they work towards more open and green societies.

They invite interested applicants to submit a proposal that will provide a solution to the listed social issues in domestic work.

Description of Assignment

 

  • Provide training and advocacy for DWs.
  • Link job opportunities to DWs in line with the current minimum wage rates.
  • Guide DWs on how to protect them and report abuse in their work place.
  • Encourage social protection to DWs and make it easy to plug in with the relevant institutions.
  • Offer personal data protection.
  • The ICT solution should have a marketing plan for sensitizing the public through a product launch and an aggressive marketing campaign.
  • Plan for an App & USSD infrastructure to accommodate non-smart phone users.Apply by 31st August.
