Research and Education Network for Uganda (RENU). RENU is a not-for-profit organisation that encourages ICT-enabled collaboration among Ugandan researchers and the higher education community by linking them to their peers and partners, nationally within Uganda, regionally within Africa and internationally to the global Research and Education (R&E) communities.
Job Summary: The Chief Executive Officer will be reporting to the Chairman of the RENU Board of Directors in the normal execution of his/her duties, and will be responsible for driving towards the RENU vision, and leading RENU in all aspects of its institutional function and development. The Chief Executive Officer will be in charge of all aspects of RENU’s management, including implementation of the strategic and operational plans of RENU.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Masters’ degree in a field linked to ICT for Development, or Electrical; Telecommunications and Computer Engineering, or Computer Science, or Statistics and Mathematics, with strong and broad understanding of |CT’s ability to facilitate research, the development of science, technology and innovation. A PhD in the above fields is an added advantage.
- At least ten years of experience in higher education institutional development at strategic management r level. Senior management or leadership will be an added advantage.
- Possession of demonstrable experience, qualifications and competences in other important areas such as research, advanced ICT professional certifications.
- Demonstrable ability to innovate, develop and implement new NREN business products, especially products that are ICT-enabled to support collaborative working and learning environments.
- Excellent leadership skills including a sense of stewardship, the ability to build and lead teams, excellent communication skills to a level required in high-level fora, and good appreciation of the effective use of modern ICT-enabled communication tools.
- Prior exposure and possessing an understanding of the workings of NRENs for supporting collaborative teaching, learning and research is crucial.
- Experience in writing proposals for funding and capacity building is an advantage.
