Job Summary: The Chief Finance Officer (CFO) will be responsible for a well-functioning finance and accounting system. He/ She will be responsible for all the financial management aspects of the Company including: planning, organizing and control of all financial resources, corporate financial management, and financial risk management including taxation..
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and delivery of the finance strategy, within the overall corporate strategy;
- Take accountability for the financial performance of the company through effective planning, control and reporting;
- Review and update the Accounting and Financial Reporting System of the company;
- Establish and improve upon the existing internal controls and procedures;
- Manage key financial relationships with stakeholders including external auditors and bankers among others;
- Manage all financial risks and exposures of the company and mitigate key elements of the company’s risk profile;
- Take the lead financial advisory role for the senior management team, directors and the entire company, for prudent management and utilisation of company resources;
- Ensure appropriate funding levels for the company;
- Measure and report on company financial and operational performance;
- Ensure compliance with applicable statutory codes and accounting principles, regulations;
- Support the development of new businesses through scrutinising potential investments;
- Provide leadership and performance management support to the finance and administration team, including annual review of the team’s performance.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Statistics, Finance or related fields, and be a qualified accountant (ACCA, CPA, CFA) with a proven track record of at least eight years of progressive managerial experience in finance related areas.
- A Master’s degree in business and/or finance would be an additional advantage, as would finance and accounting experience working in the agribusiness sector.
- Ability to develop as well as drive strategy for growth;
- Strong accounting knowledge and financial analysis skills;
- Excellent communication and influencing skills;
- Excellent leadership skills and ability to exercise judgement based on accurate and timely analyses;
- Strong business acumen and project management experience; and
- Proven experience in supporting staff development, performance and career progression.
