About USAID RHITES-N Project:
RHITES-N, Lango will contribute to improving key population- based national health indicators; build the capacity of the Ugandan government to carry out a sustainable and locally- driven response to the HIV epidemic, while also improving TB, malaria, nutrition, MNCH+A, and WASH outcomes. JSI will work with Ugandan stakeholders to design and implement health system strengthening strategies to scale up high-impact, evidence-based interventions at the national, sub-regional, district, and community levels. Interventions will include VMMC, virtual elimination of mother-to-child transmission of HIV, antiretroviral therapy, and condom education and distribution. JSI will focus where the greatest impact can be realized, with a priority on hard-to-reach and high-HIV-prevalence locations.
Job Summary: The Community and Youth Mobilization Advisor is primarily responsible for organizing, coordinating, monitoring and in some cases leading activities that contribute to target audiences adapt appropriate health behaviors related to HIV and AIDS, Maternal and Child Health, Malaria, TB, Family Planning, and Nutrition. S/ he will facilitate exchanges of good practice between communities and districts, liaise with District Health Office, Civil Society Organizations, Non-governmental Organizations, partners, and community stakeholders in the public and private sectors. The Advisor will regularly report on progress with the community and youth mobilization work to the Department of Health at district, community and to RHITES-N Lango Project.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Train and coordinate the work of community groups (youth, women, adolescents and men) that will engage target audiences including community stakeholders, health providers, at risk populations, and key audiences in the district and communities in relevant activities that support adapting healthy behaviors.
- Conduct regular meetings with the community groups (youth, women, adolescents and men) for reporting, refresher training, and logistic and content updates of community events.
- Coordinate with and keep government officials engaged with community activities, i.e., training, demonstrations, and mobilization in targeted districts.
- Work closely with mhealth digital Advisor and gender officer to manage logistics including delivery of materials, payments, and reporting.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant for the USAID RHITES-N Project Community and Youth Mobilization Advisor job placement should hold a Master’s degree and five years experience in organizing and managing community and youth mobilization activities preferably in the health sector
- Experience in logistics and facilitating events ranging from town hall meetings, Health Days, mobilization, integrated community outreaches and training with key audiences
- Good writer and editor including reports and updates for USAID
- Experience in working with government officials and representing large donor-funded projects
