About UNNGOF:
The Uganda National NGO Forum (UNNGOF) is a National Platform for NGOs to influence governance and development processes in Uganda and enhance their operating environment. Its constituency comprises National, Regional and International NGOs operating in different parts of the country.
Job Summary: The Coordinator, Civic Space and Governance Monitoring will oversee UNNGOF’S efforts in the creation of a more conscious and informedcitizenry as well as mobilizing them to take part in Uganda’ s governance and development processes.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare annual work plans and budgets for the Civic Space and Governance Monitoring component and ensure timely delivery of set targets
- Manage efforts to ensure a progressive legal framework for NGOs and tracking developments in the NGO Operating Environment
- Coordinate engagements in building civic literacy and improving citizen consciousness and nationalism in partnership with sub-national, national and regional partners
- Coordinate civil society efforts in mobilizing citizen participation in governance and development processes
- The incumbent will also identify potential partners for collaboration and networking at sub-national, national, regional and international level
- Compile progress reports against set targets as per the UNNGOF Strategic Plan
- Supervise and mentor staff under Civic Space and Governance Monitoring Component
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Results Manager and Executive Director
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant for the Uganda National NGO Forum (UNNGOF) Coordinator, Civic Space and Governance Monitoring job opportunity must hold a Master’s degree in the fields of social work, development economics, and political science and or any other related field.
- At least three to five years’ experience in a managerial and or senior position in the NGO sector.
- Excellent analytical and writing skills with proficient computer knowledge.
- Excellent communication, facilitation and public relations skills
- Broad knowledge and understanding of civil society, governance and political economy issues both locally and globally
- Previous experience in community mobilization
- High degree of integrity and professionalism
