Covid-19 Early Childhood Rapid Response Funding in South Africa
Are you or your organisation working to support child protection efforts in one or more of South Africa’s impoverished communities?
Are you finding the need to deploy extraordinary measures to safeguard children and their caregivers as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic?
Would additional grant funding help you to quickly put those measures in place? If you’ve answered yes to any of those questions, Innovation Edge is inviting you to submit a proposal to access a portion of their (R2 million) Covid-19 Early Childhood Rapid Response Fund focused on Child Protection.
Types of Products or Services
The list below provides some ideas of what they are looking for, but they welcome you to share any child protection solutions you may have.
- Products or services that enable identification and referral of vulnerable mothers and children
- Convenient and reliable remote psychosocial support for vulnerable children and caregivers
- Products or services aimed at supporting fathers to be active and responsive caregivers.Eligibility Criteria
The application form will help guide you through Innovation Edge’s key considerations, but the list below provides insight into some of their funding eligibility criteria:
- The individual or organisation must have a proven track record of having worked for at least 3 years in the area of child protection in South Africa.
- The proposed intervention must be focused on a child protection product or service, aimed at benefiting children between birth and six years old and/or their caregivers, living on or below the poverty line in South Africa.
- They are looking for innovative solutions that help to rapidly increase the reach of existing child protection products or services; improve the quality or coordination of child protection services, and/or enable more convenient access to child protection products or services.
- It must have the ability to be put into rapid motion within 14 days of fund approval and must be part of your organisation’s operational plan for (at least) the next 12 months.
- All necessary governance, legal and compliance frameworks need to be in place (e.g.if applicable, the permission to operate as an essential service provider during Lockdown)
The Process
- A shortlist will be selected by 7 May 2020
- The final selection will be made and applicants notified on 13 May 2020
- Public announcement of successful applicants will be made by 15 May 2020
- The first tranche of funding will be released on 17 May 2020.Apply by 30th April.
