About US:

Cairo Bank Uganda Limited was incorporated on 11th July, 1994.  The Bank was formerly known as Cairo International Bank owned by the three leading Egyptian Banks namely; Banque Du Caire, Bank Misr and National Bank of Egypt.  In 2019, it became a fully owned subsidiary of Banque Du Caire (BDC). The shareholder consolidation in 2019 was on the back of expanding its presence across Africa whilst providing an entry point into the COMESA market.

 

Job Summary:  The Credit Risk Officer will provide support through regular credit risk reviews including stress testing of the Bank’s credit portfolios.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review, assess and analyses credit applications to identify risks and key risk indicators involved in financial data and customer portfolio.
  • Assessment of Industry/ Sector credit risks and performance to guide prioritization of business efforts.
  • Support the recovery team where need be with recovery efforts in regards to client visits and loan classification efforts
  • Assess the quality of the overall loan portfolio through trends and other analytical risk indicators, to improve credit collections and recoveries.
  • Periodic generation on credit risk reports, stress tests and scenario analysis as per required content on portfolio at risk for presentation to Risk Management Committee
  • Ensure all lending decisions confirm within the laid down policies and procedures
  • To ensure all loans are appropriately approved and signed off in accordance with the credit risk policy
  • Discuss credit proposals with the required heads of departments for risk issues identified
  • Participate in projects as delegated from time to time such as the annual review of the credit portfolio
  • Recommend processes of maintaining an efficiency control system of the bank through continuous review of the policies, procedures, limits, and how staff members comply with them.
  • Liaise with the legal department on any credit-related risk so as to find solutions to mitigate the bank’s losses
  • Review weighted assets and capital figures to determine capital adequacy ratios established by the regulator to reduce compliance risk.
  • Preparation of credit risk report to RMC on a monthly basis and Board Risk Management Committee on a quarterly basis or as and when required and submit to Head of Risk for review.

Financial transactions and statements capabilities;

  • Review of Credit Performance Ratios such as NPA, and portfolio at risk concentration from time to time.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline
  • A professional qualification in the Treasury function is an added advantage.
  • At least three years of experience in a similar role in a financial institution.
