In 1996, Action Africa Help International (AAIN) became Aktion Africa Hilfe e. V (AAH) and was registered in Munich, Germany from where our founders in 2003 moved the organisation’s headquarters to Kenya. AAH-I now works with refugees, host communities and other marginalized and vulnerable groups in Kenya, Uganda, Somalia and South Sudan, where it operates across a range of sectors that seek to bridge relief to development.
Job Summary: The District Project Officer will coordinate Hoima District technical support to Kyangwali Refugee Settlement in line with the approved project annual work plans in respect to AAH-U programme implementation procedures, policies and guidelines.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- The incumbent will design, implement and monitor of all project work plans activities in Kyangwali refugee settlement in collaboration with Sector Heads and District stakeholders.
- Keenly monitor the collection and dissemination of regular analytical and critical reports including proposals for improvements in the operation and the scope of project activities;
- Monitor and report on the progress of the operations and indicators, and contribute to processes to measure, learn from and improve impact in line with donor, AAH and district local government guidelines.
- Prepare correspondences, agenda, minutes, event programs, bulletins, success stories, for the purpose of communicating information and/or creating documentation in compliance with established stakeholder and AAH Uganda guidelines.
- Supports the District line departments on the maintenance of project records including accountabilities and ensure that reports required by UNHCR are accurate and provided as scheduled;
- Prepare and submit reports to demonstrate a clear and concise understanding of project progress towards implementation;
- Perform any other related duties as required and assigned by the Supervisor.
Key Result Areas:
- Designed, implemented and monitored of all project work plans and activities.
- Compiling correspondences, agenda, minutes, event programs, bulletins, success stories.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the District Project Officer job opportunity should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Social work and Social Administration, Development studies, Education, Community Psychology or a related field from a recognized institution of higher learning.
- Possession of a post graduate training in Project Planning and Management or Monitoring and Evaluation
- At least three years’ experience in Project Planning, Coordination and Reporting.
- Broad knowledge and experience in working with local governments and community based organizations.
- Good networking abilities
- Supervisory and monitoring skills
- Good report writing skills
- Computer literacy skills with proficiency in Ms word, Ms excel Ms Power point and internet usage and web technologies.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and suitable to work in a fast-paced environment
- High degree of professionalism
- Conceptual and analytic thinking
- Initiative, self-motivated
- Good team player able to work alongside refugee communities and other Implementing Partners in the spirit of partnership
- Proactive, supportive and accommodative
