Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop collaborative framework for joint value chain development with project partners including Multi-stakeholder processes management.
- Support the District technical team to ensure active participation in the formation and support of farmers’ and farmer groups in group management, financial literacy, basic market skills, value chain innovation and agro-ecology, through farmer-to-farmer learning and among Agricultural value chain actors for bulk agricultural production and marketing.
- In partnership with district production department, facilitate access to agro inputs by smallholder farmers and identify the inputs necessary to implement the program, with the support of the Field Supervisors and district agricultural extension staff.
- Provide high quality advice, support and assistance to the District Production Officer on key value chain actors, management, agro dealers, and extension staff to inform strategy and planning.
- Form robust strategic alliances and develop effective working arrangements between Action Against Hunger and The District Production Office, other partners and value chain actors in the related crop sectors.
- Organize training of the district staff team on value chain approach and linkages between nutrition and community approaches to combating hunger.
- Support the District in activity planning to ensure participation of the District staff to the key activities of the project.
- Effectively document all information related to project activities and successes and share with the District.
- Provide to the district reports, and communication material to ease District communication on the project activities and findings.
- Document and compile relevant information and contribute to the elaboration of the reports on project activities including Monthly & Quarterly donor reports, Action Against Hunger internal reports (Project Activity Reports (APRs), SITREP) and activity reports (meetings, and any other activity) and share with the District Production Office.
- Provide to the District relevant information to feed the District information system on food security and livelihood.

Fiscal Responsibility
- Work closely with the program Manager in updating the project BFU in relation to the activity implementation plan on regular basis, ensuring that relevant documentation on value chain activities is filed and archived.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree (honors) in Agribusiness Management/Agricultural Economics/Commerce/Business Administration/ Micro finance management from a recognized university or any other relevant field. Masters desirable.
- You have Knowledge and practical experience in value chain development/ public private partnerships.
- Previous work experience with farmer organizations will be an added advantage.
- You have previous work experience in agribusiness development or agribusiness marketing.
- You exhibit experience in smallholder farmer agribusiness capacity development.
- You have excellent knowledge of the agribusiness sector in Uganda.
- You’re are able to building of organizations and individuals.
- You’re familiar with participatory training methodologies with a network of private sector contacts.
- Previous work with a busy multi-sectoral setting/programming in a refugee setting is an asset.
- Strong communication skills (written and oral) in English.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently.
- Extremely flexible with the ability to cope with stressful situations.
- Excellent reporting skills with good oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of the local language is an added advantage and culturally sensitive.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
