International Justice Mission (IJM) is a global non-governmental human rights organization which protects the poor from violence by rescuing victims, bringing the criminals to justice, restoring survivors to safety and strength, and helping local law enforcement build a safe future that lasts. International Justice Mission (IJM) Uganda is working in partnership with the government and other agencies to build capacity for the public justice system to provide justice for survivors of Violence against Women and Children (VAW/C), including intimate partner violence and forms of sexual violence.
Job Summary: The Driver / Field Security will assist in ensuring the success of IJM’s work by providing safe and secure transportation to IJM staff and performing miscellaneous casework related tasks.
Key Result Areas:
The success of this role is measured by the following KRAs:
IJM staff consistently receives transportation that is safe and timely.
IJM vehicles are used responsibly and are well taken care of.
Ensuring that security measures are implemented to protect staff on field visits
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide navigation and translation support for IJM staff.
- Provide security support at IJM field visits and other events
- Complete security risk assessments and incident reports as required.
- Perform miscellaneous casework related tasks (delivering supplies, assist with surveys, run errands, etc.) as needed.
- Events and Logistics:
- Drive IJM’s vehicles for IJM staff, clients and guests for business purposes.
- General tasks:
- Assist in the cleaning, maintenance, repair, fueling and upkeep of IJM vehicles.
- Assist in maintaining records of use, condition and fuel consumption of IJM vehicles.
- Be responsive to security risks levels and mitigate risk accordingly.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- At least five years of experience as a professional driver.
- Valid Driver’s License, certificate from defensive driving course, and experience driving manual vehicles on rough terrain.
- Fluency in English and local languages, with excellent writing and speaking in both.
- Computer literate with proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Technical Competencies
- Knowledge of geography and roads of Fort Portal, Gulu and surrounding areas.
- Understanding of maintenance requirements for four-wheel-drive vehicles.
- Familiarity with pricing for vehicle maintenance and repair.
- Understanding of security protocols and procedures (emphasized requirement)
