Job Summary: The Driver will oversee the provision of reliable, secure driving services and proper use and maintenance of office vehicles.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drive IntraHealth vehicles/authorized passengers to specified destinations as approved by the supervisor in line with IntraHealth’s Use & Management Policy.
- Physical inspection/check of vehicle status/condition e.g. engine oil, water, nuts, battery water, license, Insurance, brakes, tyre pressure etc prior to any journey and carry out regular vehicle repairs e.g. correcting hard start, tightening bolts and nuts , etc in line with policy.
- Monitor the security of vehicle, authorized passengers and luggage in line with the vehicle policy.
- In consultation with the Supervisor, address non-scheduled travel needs for staff
- On a daily basis ensure vehicle log sheets are duly completed and signed off by the travelers and monthly summaries are submitted to the Logistic Officer
- Provide administration support to the Logistic officer relating to Office vehicles management
- Ensure strict adherence to the rules and regulations provided for in the Vehicle management policy manual, Report all major and minor damages and accidents on the vehicle at hand to the supervisor using relevant documentation/forms in accordance to IntraHealth Vehicle Use & Management Policy
- Ensure that motor vehicle files are up to date and comprehensive with all the information required
- With support from supervisor, ensure that vehicle maintenance spreadsheet is monitored regularly to provide clear records on vehicle usage whenever needed.
- Ensure fuel replenishment summary is done in a timely manner and accurate records maintained.
- Ensures that the monthly reports on vehicle mileage, fuel consumption with allocation per tracking code, repairs and maintenance are in order for submission to Logistics officer for approval.
- Maintains and records the vehicle movements in the provided/stipulated vehicle log sheet/records on a timely basis prior and after completion of each trip, and ensures necessary reviews and approvals are made on a timely basis.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the IntraHealth Driver placement must hold an A’ level (UACE) or equivalent field.
- A certificate in motor vehicle mechanics
- Five years of working experience in similar field preferably with an International NGO
- Must possess a valid Ugandan Driving License, at least DL, coupled with a clean driving record
- Training in defensive driving an added advantage.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with prioritization and able to drive long distance and for long hours.
- Basic computer skills in Ms Word and use of Internet
- Good oral and written communication skills in English Language
