About US:
The Uganda Retirement Benefits Regulatory Authority (URBRA) was established pursuant to section 2 of the Uganda Retirement Benefits Regulatory Authority Act 2011, No. 15 of 2011. It is an autonomous body responsible for regulating the establishment, management and operation of retirement benefits schemes in Uganda in both private and public sectors. The Authority is responsible for supervising institutions which provide retirement benefit products and services.
Job Summary: The Communication & Public Affairs Officer will support the implementation of communication and public relations strategies.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the implementation of communications and public relations strategies aimed at advancing the mission and objectives of URBRA
- Establish and maintain proactive and effective working relationships with the media.
- Prepare responses to requests for information from the media, other stakeholders and the general public.
- Gather information, write articles for URBRA’s publication
- Contribute to the development, production and delivery of URBRA messages.
- Update URBRA’s digital communication platforms
- Organize media events, conferences, workshops, and presentations for informational purposes.
- Represent URBRA at meetings, conferences and workshops and other forums.
- Support the implementation of the Authority’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold an Honors Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Marketing, English Language Studies, or equivalent qualifications in a relevant field.
- A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in corporate communication and public relations practice in a reputable institution.
- Ability to write, edit and produce a variety of communications materials
- ICT Proficiency
- Operating knowledge of multi-media communication equipment
- Ability to conduct information gathering, surveys, interviewing skills, report writing
