Job Summary: To manage and oversee Company’s financial procedures, plans, and budgets/investments to ensure an appropriate financial framework is in place for better decision making, growth opportunities, and cost optimization.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee recording of all financial transactions, analyses, and systems
- Manage the treasury function
- Oversee the overall risk management processes for the company including analyses of their financial impact
- Tax Affairs Management by ensuring full compliance with all tax legislation including but not limited to statutory returns (VAT, PAYE, WHT, Corporation Tax)
- Implement controls systems to ensure cost efficiency and management of risks
- Support financial planning and analysis to ensure timely and accurate preparation of reports in compliance with IFRS and other stakeholder requirements
- Manage statutory and other audits
- Implement recommendations by the Board and the Auditors on matters of finance and accounts
- Manage the development of the team and support capacity building of the team
- Management of Intercompany balances and transactions
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Registered Accountant with The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration (Finance), Commerce, Statistics, or any other associated discipline
- Over 7 years of progressive experience in an accounting role with at least 3 years at the managerial level
- Familiarity with Ugandan tax legislation is an added advantage
- Experience in using SAP and Microsoft Excel is required
- Strong problem solving and creative thinking skills
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses
- High level of integrity and dependability
- Strong sense of urgency and results-oriented
- Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines
