About Project:
TCI Tupange For Better Cities implements a demand driven approach in the delivery of family planning selected geographies (cities, municipal councils, district councils).
Job Summary: The Finance Officer I will be responsible for providing financial support to Jhpiego Uganda Country Office and related programs to ensure the smooth running of the finance office. He/she will be handling day to day financial operations of the TCI Project, with particular emphasis on handling accounts payable and receivable, expense reports, cash handling, payments and compliance to Jhpiego and donor financial policies. He/she will implement and maintain an on-site financial accounting and bookkeeping system required to assure the integrity and effective performance of Jhpiego’s financial operations. The Finance Officer I will support the TCI project in Uganda, funded by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and implemented by Jhpiego as a Prime. .
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate must hold a Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
- Minimum of final stage of CPA (U) or equivalent
- At least three years of relevant experience in financial analysis and reporting, cash flow analysis, budget development and forecasting.
- Relevant experience with Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation project management will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of USAID Rules and Regulations would be an added advantage.
- Previous experience with nonprofit organization will be an added advantage.
- An understanding of maintenance of ledger entries, books keeping skills and bank reconciliations.
- Computers skills including use of spreadsheets and/or accounting packages
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, GAAP.
- Knowledge of internal controls and their application
- Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented and high degree of accuracy;
- Strong analytical skills and sound judgment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interact with all levels of staff and partners.
- Good oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate findings and analyses
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Be self-motivated, proactive and have a positive attitude to work requiring minimum supervision.
