Tugende is a for-profit social enterprise providing asset and SME finance, leasing, insurance, and financial literacy to new customers, and consumer finance to qualified existing customers. It was formally established in 2012 in Uganda and is a technology-enabled asset financier of income-generating assets for proven entrepreneurs, using a lease-to-own product to offer an affordable path to ownership of these assets. Tugende empowers customers unable to access formal credit, and has financed over 30,000 customers.
Job Summary: The Financial Planning, Analysis and Reporting will:
- To support the CFO in the delivery of strategic and timely business insights by ensuring that reports on financial performance promptly and accurately prepared and delivered to both internal and external stakeholders.
- To oversee the provision of financial decision support services to business division leaders by ensuring that timely, accurate and tailored financial information proactively generated and provided. Lead in the annual budgeting and planning exercise for the Group.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Planning and Analysis
- Drive the annual budgeting and business planning process and guide Decision Support partners.
- Prepare medium- and long-term Business Plans as well as monthly forecasts {Income Statement, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow forecasts}
- Prepare investment cases for review by Senior Management – New products, New Markets Business Optimization
- Work directly with the CFO and other senior staff on major finance projects and ventures or alliances that have a significant financial impact for example Implementation of ERP Systems & amp; Planning Tools
- Develop a practical framework for the structuring and negotiation of customer and supplier contracts, providing financial and commercial input as appropriate
- Support and advice on pricing models for new and existing business
- Research programs, capabilities and processes of best-in-class competitors, vendors and industry experts to identify best practices.
- Define and establish projects and initiatives that will improve efficiencies across governance, reporting, planning and project management.
Reporting
- Oversee the reporting of monthly financial results of the Group including monthly consolidation
- Reviews and reports on the financial performance of the various business segments and. Makes appropriate recommendations
- Review performance with Group Heads/Line Managers and identify drivers and improve performance within their divisions. Work with Business Partners to ensure that agreed initiatives implemented
- Prepare monthly updates to the Board and Shareholders on both financial and non-financial metrics.
- Manage investor due diligence process, with preparations and having data available to be able to plan for the investors’ demands.
- Coordinate investment transactions closure – making follow-ups, on documents, signatures, update stakeholders and managing all post-deal procedures.
- Coordinate the preparation of board committees’ packs
Risk Management
- Oversee compliance and implementation for group businesses, and lead the first line of the defense team, policies and remediation of operational risks.
- Ensure communication of findings and a mediation plan in place.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field
- MBA or Master’s degree in a related discipline is desirable
- Should possess an advanced professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, ICAEW, CIMA, CFA
- Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience at least 3 of which should be at a managerial level.
- Experience with ERP systems would be highly desirable.
- Having strong analytical skills and having a keen eye for attention to detail.
